Divergent DVD/BluRay Sales Continue to Slay the Competition

DVD Sales and Rental numbers for the week ending in 8/17 are in and just like the week before, Divergent is holding on to the #1 spot in the charts for the second week in a row.

According to Home Media Magazine:

Lionsgate’s dystopian sci-fi thriller Divergent held off several new releases in the week ended Aug. 17 to top the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, which tracks overall DVD and Blu-ray Disc combined unit sales, as well as VideoScan’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc chart and the Home Media Magazine weekly rental chart for a second consecutive week.

The Cinedigm-distributed faith-based drama Gods Not Dead repeated in the No. 2 spot on First Alert, selling 64.6% as many copies as Divergent. The title, with 26% of its units sold coming in the high-definition format, fell to No. 5 on the Blu-ray chart with 38.8% as many unit sales as Divergent, which had 43% of its total sales on Blu-ray. God’s Not Dead dropped to No. 9 on the rental chart from No. 6 a week earlier.

On the rental chart, Divergent was followed by Warner’s Transcendence, which moved up to No. 2 after coming off a special 21-day holdback at Redbox. Fox’s Rio 2 came off its 28-day Redbox delay to rise to the No. 3 rental spot. Following Paramount’s Noah at No. 4, Rage debuted as the No. 5 rental. Muppets Most Wanted bowed at No. 10.

Let’s keep Divergent on the top of the charts for a few more weeks! If you haven’t already done so, you can get your copy of Divergent HERE.
