Insurgent Ticket Sales Top $100 Million at International Box Office. Should Reach $200M Worldwide This Weekend.

Deadline has reported that as it enters its 3rd overseas frame, Insurgent is now up to $100.1M in International box office sales and has notably bested Divergent in that aspect, and is expected to reach past $100M domestically this weekend. This will put Insurgent at $200M worldwide!

It crossed the $100M mark on Tuesday and has notably bested the lifetime of Divergent on a dollar basis in Brazil, Russia, Venezuela and the Philippines.

Insurgent is tracking well above in local currencies, indicative of the dramatic swings in various tenders versus the greenback over the past year. In France, for example, Insurgent had sold 1.68M tickets as of March 31, outperforming Divergent‘s lifetime of 1.49M admissions. Although France is Insurgent‘s top overseas play, the dollar cume is currently $10.9M while Divergent‘s final tally was $13.3M.

Currently at $89.7M domestically, Tris & Co should sail past $100M in North America this weekend, bringing the worldwide cume to over $200M. Divergent topped out at about $289M; $138M from overseas. Insurgent was the No. 2 movie abroad last frame, coming in behind a resurgent Cinderella which had opened well in the UK, France and Spain, and held in China. Insurgent opened in Spain yesterday and a China date has yet to be set.
