Theo James has no crazed fans

Theo James doesn’t get fans “screaming” in his face.

The actor stars alongside Shailene Woodley in Divergent, which has been compared to other fantasy franchises such as The Hunger Games and Twilight. He admits it was nerve-wracking signing up to a trilogy, but he hasn’t experienced any crazed fans yet.

“I had to think about committing to three movies and a big fan base,” he revealed to the latest edition of British ELLE magazine. “In terms of mega fandom, no one’s been screaming in my face in the street yet.”

The 29-year-old actor has a diverse CV and has appeared in both British period drama Downton Abbey and UK comedy The Inbetweeners Movie. The roles were polar opposites and Theo revealed how he made the decision to star in both.

“Yes, very different!” he admitted. “On Downton Abbey I played Kemal, who died during sex [with Lady Mary], so that was very short-lived. With The Inbetweeners, I just read the script and I thought, ‘F**k, this is funny.'”

Theo will return to the Divergent franchise as Four in upcoming instalments Insurgent and Allegiant. However, he’s still open to exploring other roles and would go back into comedy.

“One hundred per cent – that’s kind of how I started,” he assured the magazine. “I guess [2014 mystery thriller] London Fields is a black comedy. [As an actor] you probably don’t want to pigeonhole yourself too much.”

Insurgent and Allegiant are out in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
